Introduction

Wonderful New Year! Time for my first post and to get an idea what is here, let’s ask three basic questions:

Why?
A year ago I was totally unimpressed by the idea of writing a weblog, but now as I have been more than lazy keeping contact to some good friends there is definitely space for improvement. Blogging might be a convenient way of sharing news and photos. In the other hand I believe it is desirable to write down some thoughts, ideas and develop writing skills. This is like my personal notebook – in a case there is something worth remembering.

How?
After a quick research what’s there on the market I decided to proceed with WordPress, a state-of-the-art semantic personal publishing platform. Another option was Blogger, but I prefer own installations and complete control. For sharing my photos I’m still pondering between Flickr and Gallery 2.2. Once again the first is online social network and the latter open source web based photo album organizer. As I already have a webhotel and free accounts in Flickr are eligible only for resolutions up to 1024 and have advertisements I might go with Gallery 2.2. Is there really a need for all that social?

What?
Three pages: Blog, About & Photos. Blog is all about personal news, new concepts and interesting ideas. To start with I have two categories for my posts: Personal & General. I’m planning to write at least once per week. Some links – services and sites – are located on the right hand side about which I’ll tell more later on. Skype & Messenger online status indicators are to be added too. For About page I might come up with some words describing me and my interests. Photos is updated if there is an event I have participated. And there is no reason for the prawns in the title image – they just look great; and taste too.
